LOOKING TO
A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR FELIXSTOWE
updated December 2007
Earlier this year, a vision for Felixstowe was developed as part
of a master planning project covering the seafront and part of the
town centre. This vision is for:
“A thriving
seaside town and port, attractive to residents of all ages,
andwelcoming to visitors who wish
to experience the town’s
beautiful coastal location, proud Edwardian
heritage, vibrant and diverse retail offer, caféculture
and healthy outdoor lifestyle.”
The Felixstowe & Trimleys Peninsula Future Steering Group, in
conjunction with David Lock Associates, has now completed a significant
stage of work in the development of an overall regeneration master
plan. This work comprises a series of conceptual projects which
have been assessed in some detail. In addition, there are project
ideas that have also been considered and these will be evaluated
further over the coming months.

and Town Centre.
One of the most critical issues surrounding
the regeneration master plan will be where funds can be found to
implement each and any of the projects. These funds will
be sought both from UK and EU sources and could take several months – or
longer – to
secure. If sufficient funds cannot be secured to invest in
some or all of the projects, they are unlikely to go ahead or might
take significantly longer to get underway.
Further details will be provided early in 2008.
